Wamu Race 2014

wamuTeam14We didn’t have our usual “ringers” from out of town, or even many of our local super stars this year at the Wamu race on Dec 4th, but since our X Gym team is so deep with talent, we still won it by an obscene margin.

Here is the link to the official individual results:  http://www.onlineraceresults.com/race/view_race.php?race_id=45054&submit_action=Refresh+Leaders&num=15&split=TIME#racetop

And here are some notable achievements:

John Roberts went from 9:41 last year down to 8:23 this year!

Dan Dill went from 10:05 down to 8:03!

Kacie is now the 4th woman ever, in the 26 year history of this race, to go under 8 min! The other two were also on the X Gym team of course: Kourtney Dexter, Anne Jensen and Sherri Breese.

Bev crushed her PR by over 30 seconds! She also served as our team captain for the first time, which took a lot off my plate. That helped me a ton at the race, allowing me to concentrate more on racing. It also helped me juggle all the irons in my fire outside the race and to plug away on my next book. Plus, she’s better at it anyway, so I vote that she stay our captain!

Jill won her division (40-50) at her very first climb ever!

John Andrew won his division (50-60), placed 4th overall (regardless of age group) and is a certified beast! John was actually the only member to fly in from out of town, so we were really glad to see him!tristanWamu

John Hernandez earned second place overall despite the fact that this was his first ever stair race!

PJ took 3rd overall and won his age group.

And no one was surprised to see Tristan (pictured right) win overall by a huge margin, who also by the way, single-handedly beat the fastest 3-person relay team.  😉

Note how close the second-place, third-place, and fourth placed teams were, with than a one minute spread between all of them. Pretty competitive huh? Yes indeed, but then the X Gym shows up and creates a gap of almost 3 minutes between them and the second-place team.  :-O
